1.1 General Background;
Coronation rite is the investiture give to one selected among the people to serve in the society as a representative of the people based on the culture of the people. This religious investiture is diverse base on peoples culture. Some of this religious activities can take one or two days, and at times up to a week as the culture and customs of the people demands. The selections of paramount rulers can be selected from village heads which culminate the family heads as well. This heads of representatives was of relevant during the colonial rule in Nigeria as the colonial masters were only ruling us through the paramount rulers.
- Statement of the problem;
It is worthy of note that these practices exist almost in every society, but little or no much is written about these activities because most of these activities is shrouded in secrecy. As a result of this, the generation yet unborn would likely to know little or nothing about this religious investiture. To this ends, this work is written to bring to light that the coronation rite of every religious investiture should be written and documented for future purpose and also made available for researchers to actually have access to the ceremonies. Soft copies of such document should be made available online so that the general public can read and understand the efficacy of such rites.
- Objective study;
This study is aim at show casing the rich cultural heritage of the African culture and its significance in the society as was handed down by our ancestors.
