The main purpose of this research work was to investigate the causes and suggested solution to students’ unrest in Ile Ife metropolis. To do this, a sample of 200 respondents participated in the study. The t-test and Analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistical methods were used in analyzing the data obtained. All the hypotheses were tested at the 0.05 level of significance.
The results of the study showed that there is no significant difference in the views expressed by respondents based on age, gender, religion and status in both the causes and suggested solutions. However, significant differences existed in the views expressed by respondents based on type of institution in relation to both the causes and suggested solutions.
On the basis of these findings, certain recommendations were made including the fact that it is essential and important to allow student participation in decision making which affects their educational attainments.
