CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

Background to the Study

In recent time, Nigeria government has been pushing for an agricultural machinery rental business through the Agricultural Technology Center to ease farmers’ burden from purchasing agricultural machinery and to promote the mechanization of farming. The agricultural machinery rental business is being operated with a focus on one- to three-day short-term rentals of machinery, such as seeders, sowers, and reapers, for sectors with inadequate mechanization of operations.

Modern agricultural equipment's make farmers work more efficient and easy .As a part of which there are some organizations that are set up to help those farmers who are in need of such equipment's, where the organization owns the equipment's and rent those on request of farmers at liable amounts .

At present, farmers need to travel to a place to borrow all the essential needs, which is a tiresome and not a cost effective work. So a smart digital farming is listed as the highest ranking technology opportunity in the latest Global Opportunity report in terms of its expected positive impact on society .

Agriculture yet forms the backbone of Nigeria  economy and there is always a need of supporting and improving it. As a part of which some of Nigerian NGO's are with an initiative of supporting the farmers by facilitating them with the modern agricultural equipment's on rental basis .We aim at developing an website that farmers can use to get their equipments on rent and also check the availability and renting.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Nigerian agribusiness is experiencing a slow move from reliance on human power and creature capacity to mechanical power on the grounds that expanding cost for upkeep of creature and developing shortage of human labour . Nigerian farming is experiencing a progressive move from reliance on human power and creature capacity to mechanical power in light of the fact that expanding cost for upkeep of creature and developing shortage of human work. Along these lines there is a solid requirement for taking homestead automation .So, we are digitizing the agriculture equipments by the farmers

1.3 Purpose Of The Study

The main objective of this study is on the Design and Implementation of Responsive Website for Agricultural Tools and Machinery Rental Business.

The study has the following specific objectives;

  1. We aim at developing responsive website that farmers can use to get their equipment's on rent and also check the availability
  2. It reduces the cost of visiting the equipment shops to check the availability and renting.
  3. The system will also allow farmers to book the equipment's in advance.
  4. It also helps farmers to get the track of equipment's that are on rent
  5. We also aim at developing analytic for farmers to make better availability of equipment's an to keep track of the equipment's as well which could help in providing better support for farmers

Scope Of The Study

 The scope of this covers the normal operational procedures of data processing and information about all rental transactions made on websites. The project scope extends from the point of customers booking of items to the point these items are leased.

1.5 Limitation Of The Study

Financial Constraints: The researcher was with limited funds, she cannot visit all the areas to get responses from respondents but she was able to get good information concerning the research topic.

Time Constraints: The researcher was involved in other departmental activities like seminars, attendance of lectures et.c which limited her time for the research but the researcher was able to meet up with the time assigned for the completion of the research work.

1.6 ASSUMPTION

The significance of a study of this magnitude cannot be overemphasized. farmers, state and federal ministries of agriculture involved in policy formulation and implementation, would find this study really useful especially as they utilize the findings of the study.

The study will equally add to the existing body of knowledge on the subject matter. Students undergoing research work similar to the present study who may wish to use this work as a reference material or a spring board for their own work will find this work really useful.

1.7 Definition Of Terms

Some technical term have been used on this work and the whole system will be meaningless if the terms are not the explicitly explained.

Report: information reaches to managers from the M.L.A by a virility of analysis statistics statement etc. which ear generally be referred to as reports.

Rentals: This is the act of making a payment; usually an amount fixed by contact made by a person or agency at specified intervals, in return for the right to occupy or use the property that person or agency

Services: this refers to a business whose work involves doing something for customers and not producing or buying and selling of goods.

System: A system is a network of the interrelated part of procedures that the joined together to efficiently accomplish a goal.
